So this post will be severely lacking in photo updates but there IS a reason for this.My camera which was already being annoying back home has decided to just stop working. The plan was to go to Argos (basically the Brit Target but more to the point) to buy a new one but I didn't get around to it.I'm hoping though to get a new camera this week so expect MANY pictures!
This week I started classes! My schedule looks like this:
Mondays - "Americans in London and Paris" lecture and seminar - So far the content of the class seems interesting. The professor seems good but she was very harsh about people being late to the first lecture. She kept mentioning how late people were when they came in.It was....awkward.Still,it seems interesting.I met a girl in this class who is taking 3/4 of the same classes I am!!
Tuesdays - FREEDOM! I intend to use this as a big exploring day. This week I went with Study Abroad students Jen and Christian to Buckingham Palace! It was so worth the price of admission.I can't believe people actually live there! We had fun and below you can see a pic I stole from Jen's facebook. This coming Tuesday,we're going to see Henry IV Part 1 at the Globe! We had standing seats so cross your fingers for no rain!
Wednesdays - "Modernism in Australism" seminar - This class was my random addition but the professor seems adorable. He already made references to 80's movies and American musicals! I still really know nothing about the topic but I'm sure I'll be an expert by the end.I met another Study Abroad student in this class and we had lunch/coffee at my new favorite Brit coffee chain,Cafe Nero.
Thursdays - "Elizabethan Shakespeare" lecture and seminar,"Creative Writing:Drama" - My busy day but I really like both these classes! Apparently, the woman who teaches the Shakespeare one is like one of the leading Brits on the subject and while my first impression of her was that she seemed old and strict, she really seems quite the opposite! The nice thing is that I finally met some British students from my year in these classes.Score.This Thursday,I also went with a Study Abroad student,Katherine,I met at orientation to Covent Gardens for dinner. It's my favorite place, pretty much.
Fridays - FREEDOM! This Friday,I met a friend of Christian's from Wales and found out the only thing King's make easy is taking out library books! The library is an experience really - it looks like a palace. On Friday night,we also went to this Thai restaurant/pub (I know) called "The Miller" across the street from me....very awesome vibe. We'll def go back so I'll try to take some pictures when I have my camera.
This weekend it was pouring and since I haven't really adjusted to that yet,I was a horrible Study Abroad student and didn't do much during the days.I did however end up roaming around Borough Market, the AMAZING market right down the street from me,for hours and I predict many trips there to come.I also had my first experience with the student club venue Tutu's.This week I intend to make up for my lazy weekend by seeing some more sights - and getting a new camera.
I guess that's all for now.I'm still trying to get travel plans together but I do have tickets to see my lovely Viv in Paris and my parents are taking me to Brussels when they come in.I also have to start buying theatre tickets because my Creative Writing class requires us to see at least four shows! Anyway,I am starting to like it alot here, though I still need to find my routine (and we need to find OUR pub which has yet to happen since they're all so crowded).I leave you with a picture outside Buckingham Palace!
Ahh, so exciting! Also, your "blog voice" is really easy to read. Keep updating it!
